Megan Alpert is the author of The Animal at Your Side, winner of the Airlie Prize and finalist for the National Poetry Series and the Julie Suk Award. Her poems have appeared in Colorado Review, Muzzle, Copper Nickel, Crab Orchard Review, Quarterly West, Cincinnati Review, Denver Quarterly, and many others. She has won an Orlando Poetry Prize from A Room of Her Own Foundation and has been a fellow at Vermont Studio Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Evolve Marquette Creative Residency, and The Studios at MASS MoCA. One of her poems was recently nominated for Best of the Net.

As a journalist, she has reported for The Atlantic, Smithsonian, The Guardian, and Foreign Policy. In 2016, she received an Adelante reporting fellowship from the International Women's Media Foundation.
